Why's This Thing so Floppy?

For you 80s fans that were'nt around in the 80's, when we say "floppy disk", we mean 5 1/4" disks, not the 3 1/2" discs some still use today.  The 5 1/4" floppy was actually floppy! While these are completely obsolete these days in our time a box of these could provide minutes of awesome game time or store up to 1.2 MB of data in MFM format!
